About Me

Rebecca Penina Simon is a talented, energetic educator who teaches second grade and kindergarten at Bais Yaakov in Baltimore. Originally from Memphis, TN, she earned her Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Memphis. She moved to Baltimore, MD seven years ago and is certified in the State of Maryland in Elementary Education and is trained in the Orton-Gilingham method of reading instruction. She is a SMART Exemplary Educator, SMART Certified Trainer, and a SMART Certified Lesson Developer. Rebecca blogs for Johns Hopkins Center for Technology in Education at the Maryland Learning Links blog on technology for children with special needs. Her personal blog, Climbing the Ladder of Educational Technology, focuses on educational technology. She is a guest writer for the highly acclaimed Teachers with Apps and a contributor to LessonCast, creating professional development videos for teachers to help improve their instruction.  She is currently pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Educational Technology Integration.
Rebecca was awarded the DYMO/Mimio Jumpstart grant for Mimio Interactive Classroom tools. She was also awarded V-Linc's 2012 What I Wish For My Child Campaign and  A4CWSN's (Apps for Children with Special Need's) 2011 50 State iPad campaign from the State of Maryland.
